Positive Behavior Expectations Matching Game
Make classroom expectations meaningful, interactive, and fun with PBIS Memory Cards: Classroom Edition! This engaging matching game gives students opportunities to recognize common classroom behavior problems and connect each one with an appropriate corrective action, replacement behavior, or way to make the situation right.
Students encounter realistic classroom situations such as interrupting announcements, coming to class late, using an inappropriate voice level, passing notes, talking during instruction, mishandling classroom technology, leaving supplies on the floor, and using unkind words with classmates. More Than a Traditional Memory Game
This resource combines the familiar format of a memory game with meaningful PBIS instruction.
Students work to make the connection:
Behavior Choice → Appropriate Response
When a pair is found, extend the learning by asking:
What was the problem?
Was the behavior Safe, Respectful, or Responsible?
How could the student make a better choice next time?
What would the expected behavior look or sound like?
The cards also encourage students to repair situations appropriately through actions such as apologizing, restoring materials or spaces, returning to their own workspace, and refocusing on their own work. PBIS Memory - PBIS Expectations… PBIS Memory - PBIS Expectations…

Easy to Prepare & Play

For extra durability, print the cards on cardstock and laminate them for repeated use throughout the school year.
For traditional memory play, place the cards face down. Students turn over two cards at a time and try to match a classroom behavior scenario with its corresponding corrective-action card. When a correct match is found, the student keeps the pair.
The cards can also be used for sorting activities, discussion prompts, role-play, partner work, behavior conferences, small-group interventions, or whole-class PBIS review.
Build a Positive Classroom Through Practice
PBIS expectations become more meaningful when students have opportunities to recognize behaviors, think about their impact, and practice what to do differently.
PBIS Memory Cards: Classroom Edition turns expectation review into an engaging classroom game while helping students strengthen the behaviors needed to create a safe, respectful, responsible, and productive learning environment.
