Positive Behavior Expectations Matching Game

Help students practice appropriate restroom behavior with PBIS Memory Cards: Restroom Edition! This engaging matching game helps students recognize common restroom behavior challenges and connect each one with an appropriate corrective action, replacement behavior, or responsible next step.

Students encounter realistic situations such as leaving water running, making loud noises, splashing water, blocking the doorway, wasting paper towels, playing with soap, looking over or under stall doors, and standing on restroom fixtures. What’s Included

This resource includes:

  • 60 PBIS Memory Cards
  • 30 matching behavior/action pairs
  • Coordinating PBIS Memory – Restroom Edition card backs
  • Realistic school-restroom behavior scenarios
  • Corrective and replacement-behavior cards
  • Expectations focused on safety, privacy, cleanliness, hygiene, responsibility, and appropriate voice levels

Students do more than identify an unexpected behavior. They match each situation with an action that helps them correct the problem and practice the expected restroom behavior.

Corrective actions include turning faucets completely off, drying wet areas, keeping walkways clear, using only the needed amount of paper towels and soap, respecting the privacy of others, waiting quietly when the restroom is occupied, and disposing of trash properly. More Than a Traditional Memory Game

This resource combines the familiar fun of a matching game with meaningful PBIS instruction.

Students make the connection:

Unexpected Restroom Behavior → Safe & Responsible Replacement Behavior

When students find a matching pair, extend the learning with questions such as:

Was this behavior Safe, Respectful, or Responsible?
How could this choice affect another student's privacy or safety?
What should the student do differently next time?
Why is keeping the restroom clean everyone's responsibility?
What should an efficient restroom visit look like?

The corrective cards reinforce practical replacement behaviors such as waiting at a safe distance for a sink, keeping eyes focused on one's own task, returning directly to class, leaving classroom items behind, washing hands with soap, and telling a teacher specifically when something needs custodial attention. Easy to Prepare & Play

Simply print, cut, shuffle, and play!

For additional durability, print the cards on cardstock and laminate them for repeated use throughout the school year.

For traditional memory play, place the cards face down. Students turn over two cards at a time and try to match a restroom behavior scenario with its corresponding corrective-action card. When a correct match is found, the student keeps the pair.

The cards can also be used for sorting activities, role-play, discussion prompts, partner challenges, restroom-procedure practice, small-group intervention, or whole-class PBIS review.

Build Better Restroom Habits

School restrooms are shared spaces where students need to demonstrate independence, privacy, cleanliness, and responsibility. Clear expectations help students use these spaces safely while respecting classmates and school property.

PBIS Memory Cards: Restroom Edition gives students an engaging way to practice those expectations while reinforcing appropriate hygiene, privacy, efficient restroom use, and care for shared spaces.

Help students put Safe, Respectful, and Responsible behavior into action every time they use the restroom!
