How It Works

Students read the cafeteria scenario and decide what positive PBIS choice they would make. Then they explain why their choice shows safety, respect, responsibility, or kindness. After discussing or writing their response, students can scan the QR code to check a sample answer.

These cards work well for whole-class discussion, partner talk, small-group intervention, lunchroom expectation review, counseling lessons, or independent reflection. With 40 cards included, you can use one cafeteria scenario each week for an entire school year.

Why Teachers Love It

Cafeteria behavior can be one of the hardest school routines to manage because students are eating, talking, lining up, cleaning up, and sharing space with many other classes. These cards help students practice what positive cafeteria behavior actually looks and sounds like before problems happen.

Instead of only reminding students to “use a quiet voice” or “clean up your area,” this resource gives them real-life lunchroom situations where they can practice making better choices.

Cafeteria Edition Topics Include

Walking safely with lunch trays
Waiting patiently in line
Using polite words with cafeteria staff
Cleaning up trash
Handling spills responsibly
Using appropriate voice levels
Including others at lunch
Keeping food to yourself
Following lunchroom routines
Respecting other students’ lunches
Asking adults for help
Showing kindness when classmates make mistakes

Suggested Use

Use one card per week as a PBIS mini-lesson, morning meeting prompt, cafeteria reteaching tool, or classroom discussion starter. Students can answer aloud, write responses on a whiteboard, discuss with a partner, or scan the QR code after responding to check a sample answer.

PBIS Scenario Task Cards: Cafeteria Edition is a simple, engaging way to teach and reinforce positive cafeteria behavior all year long.
